Blog #2: My Digital Notebook
Blog #2: Reflecting on writing using the electronic environment ( Digital Media)
Using a digital notebook has transformed the way I organize my
work. Unlike traditional pen-and-paper journaling, the digital notebook gave me
a flexible space where I can write, revise, store, and revisit my thoughts with
ease. The ability to type quickly, insert images, links, and videos by using Canva helped me
keep my ideas clear and organized.
One of the
biggest advantages to using the digital notebook is accessibility. My notes were readily available on any device,
which made it easier to continue the writing process at any moment of
inspiration. Digital tools such as highlighting and search functions helped me
capture my thoughts more efficiently and retrieve information without
frustration.
Being
able to write digitally also supported deeper thinking. I was able to easily revise and add layers to
previous entries, I found myself engaging more meaningfully with my writing. It
became a living document that grew with me, instead of static pages in a
notebook.
While the
writing process using the digital notebook was fun ,using a digital notebook
requires discipline. With so many features, especially while using Canva, it can be tempting to focus more on
formatting and designing a slide rather than on reflection and writing. I have learned to balance function with purpose
by focusing first on my thoughts, then organizing them afterward.
Overall, using a digital notebook has strengthened my reflective
practice. It supports clarity, creativity, and continuity, making reflection
feel more natural, accessible, and engaging.
Hope you enjoy this journey with me as I reflect on the life of my sister, cut way too short
Curlyn girl,
ReplyDeleteJust wow. Firstly, let me put it out there, she was the prettiest of all of you :-) That letter illustrated how well you knew your sister and how close you guys were. Curlyn girl you could write oui (Ms. Laz voice). hugs.
Your seemed have been somewhat comfortable engaging the digital environment to do this piece. Nevertheless, you are quite accurate about maintaining discipline while using the digital platorms. Boy oh boy can they become a distraction and lead you ashtray, especially with so may pretty colourful options and ideas. You seemed to have done a great job keeping that discipline and creating such a beautiful piece. Great job. Hugs.

DeleteCurlyn my friend, thank you for opening up about your experiences and for sharing your journey with the digital notebook. I admire how you highlighted both the creative freedom and the discipline it requires, your balance between expression and reflection is inspiring. The way you described your notebook as a “living document” really stood out and it shows how digital tools can deepen thinking and make writing more meaningful. I am truly moved by the way you connected this process to honoring your sister’s memory, your courage and creativity shine through, and I look forward to seeing how you continue to use these skills to tell powerful stories.
ReplyDeletethank you Deci... it was not easy writing about my sister, was an emotional ride for me, because i have never imagined i'll be writing to her..especially from my daughter's point of view. to make the process more manageable, i included her in the process, where she chose the design and so for the piece. this is what i loved about writing digitally here, we were able to browse and choose what really resonated with us and one that would resemble my sister. glad you enjoyed
